LOS ANGELES: Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles was on fire, in a good way. The highly anticipated world premiere of Straight Outta Compton at the Microsoft Center finally hit the big screen for guests and vip’s. NWA, less the deceased member Eazy-E, were there to support the story of their lives together in the Compton rap world. Truth be told, a lot of black celebrities showed and walked the red carpet to show support for the legendary group. Unlike traditional premiers where the lead actors take control of the red carpet, the legends who they portrayed stole the cameras and media attention. Highly anticipated often translates into large box office sales. It will be interesting to see how the movie opens on August 14th.

PLOT:
“In 1988, a groundbreaking new group revolutionizes music and pop culture, changing and influencing hip-hop forever. N.W.A’s first studio album, ‘Straight Outta Compton,’ stirs controversy with its brutally honest depiction of life in Southern Los Angeles. With guidance from veteran manager Jerry Heller, band members Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), Dr. Dre (Corey Hawkins), Eazy-E, DJ Yella and MC Ren navigate their way through the industry, acquiring fame, fortune and a place in history.“
The after party was held next door at the Microsoft Center “deck” with an estimated 3000 or more guests attending. Wolfgang Puck had a lot of food to prepare. More celebrities and guests flooded the post party which was decorated with semi gangster rap elements including low riders. Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren, DJ Yella and more attended.
