LOS ANGELES: Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles was invaded by the latest Hollywood blockbuster premiere. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, a highly anticipated continuation of the saga, held the movie premiere and after party in the Nokia Live complex downtown. The red carpet movie premiere came alive with a white surface instead as broadcasts were shared on social media in an interactive format mimicking the televised sequences found in the Hunger Games movies. Fans were in the thousands, as was expected for this big budget release. Jennifer Lawrence, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore, Josh Hutcherson, Jeffrey Wright, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Willow Shields, Jena Malone, director Francis Lawrence and others attended the premiere.
Fans were lined up hours before just to gain entrance to the viewing section. Security was controlling the fan section by handing out color coded bracelets which determined if one could view from a bleacher area vs. a street area standing point. Celebrities took time to take photos and selfies with fans who came to show their support for their factor actor or actress in The Hunger Games movie saga.
“Following her rescue from the devastating Quarter Quell, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) awakes in the complex beneath the supposedly destroyed District 13. Her home, District 12, has been reduced to rubble, and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is now the brainwashed captive of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). At the same time, Katniss also learns about a secret rebellion spreading throughout all of Panem — a rebellion that will place her at the center of a plot to turn the tables on Snow.”
The after party was held nearby in a location that was constructed with tents and large lighting equipment suitable to hold up to 2000 people. Big budget movies don’t often come with big budget parties but for The Hunger Games saga, it was to be expected. Many of the celebrities and other cast members attended the party joining guests and posing for photos. (see further below)
Guests were tempted by their favorite actor or actress to meet, greet and snap a photo if given the opportunity. Jennifer Lawrence attended the movie premiere after party for about 15 to 20 minutes. Being the main star of the films it is understandable why she was subtlety mobbed by guests, other cast members, executives, etc. before making her escape with no less than four body guards and a small entourage.
