NEW YORK: Upper East Side
Estee Lauder launched Modern Muse at the Guggenheim this fashion week. A special performance by The Dolls: Mia Moretti and Margot helped to liven the atmosphere. Truth be told, it wasn’t one of the most “hyper” crowds during fashion week but not exactly a funeral. Maggie Gyllenhaal showed up to support the Modern Muse launch and walk the red carpet.

The Guggenheim is known for hosting some of the higher social level events in New York. With Estee Lauder launching a new fragrance, the invite only with a special performance trend continued. The space normally is wide open and hosts from the naked eye what would seem to be about 700 people on the first floor (we attended Lady Gaga’s fragrance launch last time here which seemed to have double the crowd and space). It has been a while since we covered an event at the Guggenheim and noticed 30% of the ground floor space was replaced with constructed walls. The walls formed an enclosure that forced about 300 guests all together in a semi-claustrophobic environment. Another 50 or so were sprinkled around the outside of the enclosure in a curved “hallway” environment. A bit disappointing and uncomfortable for guests but still a nicely decorated event.
