LOS ANGELES: Westwood Village
Westwood again became ground zero for a big budget Hollywood premiere. PASSENGERS starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt debuted this week. Fans of both actors were lined up along the sidewalks and streets screaming (why do they do that anyway?) and cheering both actors names. The black carpet set up had elements of the movie to change the earthbound press show into something more “deep space.” Did it work? Perhaps only from a few good angles.

PLOT:
“On a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. As Jim and Aurora face living the rest of their lives on board, with every luxury they could ever ask for, they begin to fall for each other, unable to deny their intense attraction… until they discover the ship is in grave danger. With the lives of 5000 sleeping passengers at stake, only Jim and Aurora can save them all.“
The after party was held nearby and selected guests along with a few cast members attended. Attendees were conservative, cordial and great conversationalists. A much more posh after party crowd than the normal “free for all” movie premiere parties of the past. However, with all the non glitter and silent glory most would label it as a bit “dull” by Hollywood standards. Still, something is better than nothing.
The film releases December 21st and Box Office sales can be monitored here. It will be a tough release as other significant films release the same week.
