BURBERRY PRESENTS LONDON IN LOS ANGELES

LOS ANGELES: Griffith Park

Burberry recently opened a store in Beverly Hills and decided to throw a bash estimated to be well over $3 Million US dollars.  Who attended?  Cara Delavingne, David Beckham, Victoria Beckham, Suki Waterhouse, Rachel Zoe, Kate Beckinsale, Michelle Monaghan, Naomi Campbell, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Jason Statham, Ryan Seacrest and many more.  The company commandeered the Griffith Park Observatory, yes the entire thing.  The stage and tent was shipped from the UK piece by piece, models flown in from around the world and guests flew themselves in from around the world.

The event started with a cocktail hour followed by a 40 minute fashion show with live entertainment.  Front row included the likes of the Beckham clan and Anna Wintour.  Truth be told, guests almost lost their hearing inside of the tent.  Once you have seen one fashion show, well, you have literally seen them all.  The post party and entertainment consisting of British guards drew attention for about 10 minutes, immediately after the runway presentation.

One of the few parties that included models as welcomed guests after their runway presentation.  Even the guards got into the action and mingled.  Was it a super star studded event considering it was in Los Angeles?  It was fair, more like a New York event filled with a large number of past limelight celebrities, a dozen of the current and a large number of those self proclaimed fashionista types roaming around feeling good about themselves.  But any event with Jason Statham (he likes to shut parties down when away from Rosie) should good enough for anyone.

The one time famed model and current TV show celebrity partook in the runway presentation.  One journalist mentioned that “black don’t crack”, referring to her good skin and apparent youthful look.  She looks good for her age, no doubt.  She must have been feeling young also as she grabbed one of the guard’s hat, directed them to stand around her (loudly) and then told the camera man to take some photos.  Awkward?  A bit since everyone was just walking into the after party from across the lawn from the tent and she did this right smack in the middle of the walkway for everyone to see.  Not to mention everyone was desperately sober from a long, long, long show.  One guest whispered “she must have had a few glasses of champagne backstage.”
