LOS ANGELES: Hollywood
Hollywood Boulevard was shut down from Highland to La Brea for what was one of the biggest red carpet movie premieres for 2015. Only the Oscars / Academy Awards shut down such a large chunk of traffic normally. Stars Wars: The Force Awakens premiered with an exciting fresh and veteran cast walking the red carpet. Who was there? Harrison Ford, George Lucas, J.J. Abrams, Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Oscar Isaac and more. Nearly 40 years later the franchise is going strong. A strong validation that original creativity lasts more than a few years.
PLOT:
“Thirty years after defeating the Galactic Empire, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and his allies face a new threat from the evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and his army of Stormtroopers.”
Will it make the numbers and continue the legacy of the brand? Only the movie analysts will know after opening day. Box Office numbers are expected in the hundreds of millions worldwide.
After party attendees included much of the cast and more than a thousand honored guests. A Star Wars style tent was the backdrop stretching from La Brea to Highland along Hollywood Blvd. There was an abundance of costumed characters from the film as well as LAPD getting numerous photos with J.J. Abrams (pictured below on right). More of a family affair vs. an all out drunken hook up after party. Other legends such as Quincy Jones and producer/actor Jon Favreau were also in attendance. The space was such a massive and long area it proved difficult for event he best undercover paparazzi to snap images.
